After the huge success of last year’s event, more than 700 people attended the II Benefit Festa Junina Children Helping Children, which took place on June 3rd 2012, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.
The event, organized by BrazilFoundation and Brazil Child Health, brought together families, children and friends in a traditional Brazilian Folk celebration to raise funds for projects in education and health for underprivileged children in Brazil.
Among guests in attendance were Carlos Saldanha and his family, Luciana Curtis, Bela Gil and JP Demasi, Carol Bittencourt, Fabiana Saba, Vanessa Grecca, Mariana Zois, Tatiana Abraços, and children, Flavia Sampaio, Natalia Beber, and Roberta Martins.
The II Benefit Festa Junina Children Helping Children was chaired and presented by Brazilian model Lisalla Montenegro. Nanny Assis and Forro Trio played traditional Brazilian folk music and guests enjoyed traditional dances, typical food, and carnival games.
The event was made possible with the support of the organizing Committee, sponsors, and the support of 70 generous volunteers. Banco Itaú was the main sponsor of the event; TV Globo Internacional was the media sponsor, and AC Klem, Brazil Ahead, Nautica and The Padded Wagon were the other sponsors.
Special thanks for all the delicious food and beverages provided by Berimbau Restaurant; Bread; Brigadeiro Bakery; La Luna Piena Restaurant, My Sweet Brigadeiro, AB InBev and Cachaça Leblon. Fashion Gives Back, new online platform for fashion and lifestyle influencers to raise awareness and funds for global social causes, choose BrazilFoundation to be the benefiting non-profit organization at its pre-launch event in Cannes.
BrazilFoundation in Cannes was a dinner for 80 guests held on Saturday May 19th 2012 at the enchanted Villa L’Abri in the midst of Cannes Film Festival.
Masters of Ceremonies Matheus Mazzafera and Luisa Moraes welcomed guests who enjoyed a pocket show by Daniel Jobim followed by a fashion show produced by Melissa Lee Batsel and styled by Catherine Baba. DJ Julio Santo Mario Domingo led the dance floor.
Among guests in attendance were Mr. André de Montigny, Honorary Consul of Brazil in Monaco and his wife Luciana, Paulo Coelho, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz Omar, Paula Lavigne, Carime Lobo, Lucrezia Buti, Ilda Santiago, Marcos Marin, Karim Ainouz and Adriana Jardel.
Founded by Melissa Lee Batsel and Omar Amanat, Fashion Gives Back, will be an online social and cultural crossroads of taste makers in fashion, film, music, art, design, brands and global philanthropic organizations. The company is headquartered in New York and will launch its website in Fall 2012.
The BrazilFoundation in Cannes was presented by Fashion Gives Back and counted on the support of the event’s Sponsors Guns N’Roses and Team Brazil, and the Media Sponsor Vogue Brazil.

Brasil: A Magical Journey was held at the Macy’s world-famous flagship at Herald Square with a Carnaval-inspired celebration featuring the fashion, food, music, dance and art of Brazil on Tuesday, May 15th 2012. The event raised funds for a BrazilFoundation initiative in partnership with the Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas (The Institute for Ecological Research) benefiting 70 families in the Baixo Rio Negro region, in the Amazon.
More than 500 people attended the event, which included a special presentation by Bebel Gilberto and Sergio Mendes, a runway fashion show, an art exhibition featuring the works of 27 Brazilian artists, and epicurean delights from Rio’s renowned celebrity chef Felipe Bronze.
Brazilian fashion designers Carlos Falchi and Francisco Costa, Astrid Muniz and Marcos Marin contributed with pieces for a silent auction, which raised 13 thousand dollars toBrazilFoundation.
Among those in attendance were Ambassador of Brazil to the United States Mauro Vieira; General Consul of Brazil in New York Luis Felipe de Seixas Correa; Francisco Costa, Carlos Saldanha, Romero Britto, Raica Oliveira, and Lisalla Montenegro.
