Alexandre & Johanna Stein-Birman

 

Alexandre Birman and Johanna Stein-Birman have been BrazilFoundation supporters since 2010, participating in several of the Foundation's galas and campaigns. Since March of 2013, Alexandre has served as the CEO of Arezzo&Co, a company founded by his father, Anderson Birman, where Alexandre started his career. He created the Schutz, Alexandre Birman, and Fiever lines, three of five brands under the group (Arezzo, Schutz, Alexandre Birman, Anacapri & Fiever) and is a member of the CFDA - Conselho de Desenhistas de Moda da América, since 2013. His wife, Johanna Stein-Birman, is a student of art at FAAP in São Paulo. She is engaged in several cultural and social projects, and was named a brand ambassador for Chanel in 2016. The couple has two daughters, and is involved with the art museum Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, with the Alexandre Birman brand serving as a patron.

Bel Santos Mayer

 

Isabel Santos Mayer is an educator with a degree in Tourism and one in Mathematics from Universidade São Judas Tadeu, and a specialty in teaching from Universitá Salesiana di Roma. She has been involved in NGOs since 1988, and has been an Ashoka social entrepreneur since 2004. Since 1997 she has coordinated the human rights work of instituto Brasileiro de Estudos de Apoio Comunitário - IBEAC, an organization that trains women to combat domestic violence in Parelheiros, a part of the city of São Paulo that sees high rates of teenage pregnancy. IBEAC’s project “Sementeiras de Direitos” was supported by BrazilFoundation in 2015. IBEAC served as the “mentor” for three initiatives through the BrazilFoundation Community Innovation Award in 2016.

Edemir Pinto

 

Mr. Pinto joined BM&F in January 1986. In July 1987 he was elected Derivatives Clearinghouse Officer. He was Chief Executive Officer of BM&F between 1999 and May 2008. In this capacity he was responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of the other executives and for planning and overall management of the company. In May 2008 he was elected Chief Executive Officer of BM&FBOVESPA, the company that resulted from the merger of BM&F S.A. and BOVESPA Holding. In 2014 BM&FBOVESPA Institute and BrazilFoundation began an unprecedented “social joint venture” to mobilize support for innovative Brazilian Civil Society Organization projects, with a common goal of building a culture of transformative philanthropy in Brazil. So far, 20 BrazilFoundation grantees have received a second year of funding by means of the partnership. Another 20 have been listed on the BVSA platform for funding in 2016.
