Initiative for Institutional Development Provides Grantees with Valuable Funding

The initiative is entering its second year

In 2018, with the support of Itaú Social, we created an initiative that offers institutional development for organizations in BrazilFoundation’s network. The objective is to provide organizations that work to foster community development and quality education with flexible resources for operational and programmatic management so that they can expand their capacity and promote long-term social change. The first year of the initiative provided 10 organizations with investments of R$ 80,000 each for specific areas and overall institutional strengthening.

These investments have allowed the organizations to make notable improvements:

In Porto Alegre, WimBelemDon was able to upgrade its IT infrastructure, provide capacity-building training for its team, and improve its teaching methods to reach more people. The project offers tennis classes, cultural activities and educational and social skill-building workshops for children and youth.

In Belo Horizonte, FA.VELA made improvements to their space so that they could host activities and mentor more people, consolidated their game methodologies to teach entrepreneurship among youth, and built a pilot for a digital platform. Fa.Vela is an incubator for businesses in peripheral communities.

In Goiânia, Circo Laheto, which offers artistic workshops for institutionalized children, was able to improve its administrative space, develop its community work strategies and increase fundraising.

Now in its second year, the initiative will enable support for 10 more organizations. The BrazilFoundation team was performing site visits in March and April to the organizations to potentially receive funding. The ten organizations to receive support will be announced in May.
