The Institute was created to develop projects for the preservation and restoration of Araucaria Forest aimed at the sustainable use of local natural resources. With the support of BrazilFoundation, the “Agro-ecological Production of Medicinal Plants” project organized the Coopaflora, a cooperative of producers of local products derived from Brazilian plants, such as tea and honey, which generated income for 72 families, expanding the marketing of natural products for laboratories and major cosmetic companies.
