A BrazilFoundation grantee in 2003, 2005, and 2010, the Institute prepares local youth for the college entrance exam. Over the years, the Institute’s methodology has been applied in 13 other communities of rural Ceará, and over four hundred students prepared by the Institute have been admitted to the Federal University of Ceará.

Many of them have graduated and have returned to their communities to assist other students in preparing for the entrance exams, and to help the local community in general. By promoting educational and social leadership, the Institute is encouraging the development of local communities in the region. The Institute has been named a “national best practice” in education as a result of its cooperative learning methodology.
