Mulheres de Corpo e Algas

The Brazilian Foundation for Citizen Education, Culture and Technology (FBC) works in the city of Fortaleza, in Ceará, and carries out programs aimed at social responsibility and sustainable development. With the support of the BrazilFoundation, the FBC realized the Mulheres de Corpo e Algas project, which trained 15 women to process seaweed and create products with high commercial value, such as cosmetics, soap, shampoo and culinary items.

Moreover, the project implemented an environmentally sustainable method of harvesting the seaweed. The organization received another grant in 2010 to develop a calendar of artistic and literary events and to establish an Eco-museum.
