In January, 23 young participants of the second course for training in video surveillance (an initiative of the Carioca Fund) received their certificates. The course was developed in partnerships with Tyco, the Secretaria de Estado da Educação (State Department of Education) and the Instituto Marquês de Salamanca (Marquês Institute of Salamanca).
The graduation ceremony took place in the auditorium of Colégio Estadual Monteiro de Carvalho, and it included attendance from representatives from all of the institutions involved in the project. After the celebration, the graduates celebrated their accomplishments with a cocktail party and performances from the bands Filtro Carioca and Soul Samba Funk – bands whose members include students from the course.
The next step is leading these young adults towards employment in the workforce in the video surveillance area. Tyco itself is already sharing the students’ résumés with its partner companies.
