Last week Brazilian actor Rodrigo Simas visited BrazilFoundation partner Projeto Quixote, located in Sao Paulo, SP. Projeto Quixote uses art, graffiti and education as tools for children and their families to overcome problems such as domestic violence, abandonment, and drug abuse. Each year Projeto Quixote helps more than 2500 people, 400 of which are children living on the street (http://www.projetoquixote.org.br/nossas-realizacoes/realizacoes/).

During the visit, Rodrigo had the opportunity to chat with the youth and share lessons he has learned through his career, talking about his love for acting and encouraging them to take advantage of the professional workshops offered at Projeto Quixote, because they could change their lives. He noted how capoeira changed his life and built his character, “Capoeira made a difference in my profession, giving me insight, determination, focus and teaching me to respect the hierarchy.”

Rodrigo left the visit impressed with the level of professionalism in which the leaders work with the youth during workshops, and with the facility’s upkeep and overall organization.
