The atmosphere was yellow and green at the Macy’s world-famous flagship store at Herald Square with a Carnaval-inspired celebration featuring the fashion, food, music, dance and art of Brazil on Tuesday, May 15th . The event raised funds for an initiative of the Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas – IPE (The Institute for Ecological Research), in partnership with BrazilFoundation, benefiting 70 families in the Baixo Rio Negro region, in the Amazon.

On the stage, Bebel Gilberto and Sergio Mendes showed the best of Brazilian music to the delight of the 500 guests. The celebration included a runway fashion show, an art exhibition featuring the work of 27 Brazilian artists, and epicurean appetizers from Rio’s renowned celebrity chef Felipe Bronze.

The event included an auction in benefit of the Foundation, which included a dress by designer Francisco Costa and portrait of Bebel Gilberto, especially made for the occasion by the artist Marcos Marin.

Among those in attendance were Ambassador of Brazil to the United States Mauro Vieira; General Consul of Brazil in New York Luis Felipe de Seixas Correa; Francisco Costa, Carlos Saldanha, Romero Britto, Raica Oliveira, and Lisalla Montenegro.
