The publishing company Phaidon promoted a cocktail reception to celebrate the launch of the new “Wallpaper* City Guide Rio de Janeiro”, written by Scott Mitchem, on June 21st, at Phaidon’s Soho store in New York. Part of the proceeds from the sales and a selection of Phaidon books were donated to BrazilFoundation.

The event had live music by Nanny Assis and caipirinhas provided by Cachaça Leblon. Among the guests were Scott Mitchem and his wife Aline Trindade; Carlos Saldanha, director of the movie Rio, with his wife Isabela Scarpa; artist Janaina Tschape; Cristina Mascarenhas; Carlos Junqueira of Espasso; Sergio Esteves; Kelly Piquet; Carlos Falchi; Carlos Couturier and Moises Micha, of Habita Group; and models Natalia Beber, Tassara Vilaca, Talita Oliveira and Lilian Queiroz. Phaidon organized a selection of contemporary art books devoted to Bernardo Paz, founder of the Inhotim Institute and honoree at the upcoming BrazilFoundation IX Annual Gala.
The Wallpaper Guide Rio de Janeiro highlights Rio de Janeiro’s design and architecture and it offers a unique selection of the best restaurants, bars, hotels, museums and shops in the city. The guide is published by Phaidon in the United States and by Publifolha in Brazil.
