BrazilFoundation hosted its 2nd annual gala in Miami at the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens on March 26, 2013. Sponsored by Graff Diamonds, Crédit Agricole and Carla Amorim, the evening honored influential social investors, David Hertz and Tony Kanaan, and brought together more than 400 leaders from the worlds of business, diplomacy, academia, fashion and art to generate resources for the community-led initiatives funded by BrazilFoundation. More than US$250,000 was raised, and these funds will be used directly to support 8 social initiatives across 26 Brazilian states.
Television host Pedro Andrade and actress Guilhermina Guinle served as the evening’s masters of ceremonies, while guests enjoyed an evening complete with cocktails, dinner and dancing. Rising international star Naldo, who recently toured with Fat Joe in Brazil, made his highly anticipated official U.S. debut with a live musical performance. Models showcased Graff Diamonds; the auction included a pair of earrings designed by Brazilian jewelry designer Carla Amorim.
Supporters and guests in attendance included Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima, who attended with close friend and model Melanie Ribbie, rapper Fat Joe, artist Romero Britto, fashion icon Lily Scout-Kwong, Brazilian models Raica Oliveira, Natalia Beber and Luciana Curtis, DJ Orazio Rispo, Miss Brazil 2008 Natália Anderle, Karim Masri, BrazilFoundation Honorary Chair Ambassador Hélio Vitor Ramos Filho of the Consul General of Brazil in Miami and Co-Chairs Daniela Fonseca and Maria Carolina Tavares de Melo.
“The proud Brazilian community in South Florida is very eager to help their native country as demonstrated by the amazing support and generosity we’ve received during our first and, now, second gala in Miami,” says BrazilFoundation President and CEO Patricia Lobaccaro. “We are much appreciative of the growing support for BrazilFoundation so that we can continue funding projects which will further develop Brazilian communities.”
