Approximately 100 people from the third sector and government, as well as human rights activists, participated in a conference on June 27th entitled “Advances and Challenges in Guaranteeing Human Rights in Brazil”, held at the Escola de Direito da Fundação Getúlio Vargas, in São Paulo. BrazilFoundation’s project analyst, Carla Lima, attended the event as a representative of the Foundation.
During the conference there were numerous debates on the victories and challenges that the country faces in human rights area. The social uprisings that occurred in full force last month ended up becoming one focus of the discussions, which touched on questions of racism, gender equality, indigenous and socio-environmental rights, and democracy.
