Our Mission
By connecting donors with impactful organizations on the ground, the Brazilian Soul Fund transforms resolve into meaningful action, creating pathways for lasting change.
The Brazilian Soul Fund was established in 2024 in response to the catastrophic floods that affected hundreds of municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil’s southernmost state.
Since its creation, the Fund has supported organizations working in disaster recovery, housing, community rebuilding, environmental restoration, animal welfare, and social inclusion — channeled through BrazilFoundation’s rigorous grantmaking process and trusted network of organizations — while expanding its mission to meet the broader challenges and opportunities facing Brazilian communities.
Rio Grande do Sul Flood Recovery Initiative

To date, the Fund has raised more than US$340,000 to support the following organizations:
- Associação Movimento União BR
- Rotary Club de Lajeado
- Instituto Geração Tricolor (Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense)
- SLAN – Sociedade Lajeadense de Atendimento à Criança e ao Adolescente
- Moradia e Cidadania – Projeto Ciclo Reverso
- Mulher em Construção
- Associação dos Amigos Artesãos e Pescadores da Ilha da Pintada
- Articulação dos Povos Indígenas da Região Sul (ARPINSUL)
- UP Sou Animais
- Campo Bom pra Cachorro
The Fund was created in 2024 from a powerful movement of solidarity during the devastating floods that impacted Rio Grande do Sul, Alessandra Ambrosio’s home state. Joining forces with fellow model Cindy Mello, she mobilized international supporters, raising significant resources for emergency relief and long-term recovery efforts in the state.
Through BrazilFoundation’s network of trusted nonprofit partners, donations made to the Brazilian Soul Fund helped provide immediate assistance to vulnerable families, support community-led recovery initiatives, strengthen local organizations, and address the needs of animals, Indigenous communities, children, adolescents, artisans, and fishing communities affected by the crisis.

“The Brazilian Soul Fund remains deeply grateful to every donor, partner, and supporter who contributed to this effort. Together, we transformed solidarity into action and helped communities begin the long process of recovery and rebuilding.”
