The six-month literary competition “I, a Young Carioca, Have a Story to Tell,” which started with more than 100 participants and was organized by the Carioca Fund of BrazilFoundation, has come to an end with much fanfare. The winners, Gustavo Cardozo, Israel Mattos, Phillip Greiner, Vitor Ferreira, Allan Rocha, and Gabriela Domingues, visited São Paulo for 3 days, a city where cultural energy, modernity and historical preservation can be found on every street corner.
The cultural itinerary developed by Weber Shandwick, an agency that partnered with the Carioca Fund since the beginning of the competition, gave special privilege to inspiring spaces and special attention to multiple facets of the creative economy. Aside from visits to the Museum of the Portuguese Language, the Rock Gallery, the “Terraço Itália,” the historic center of the city, the winners also visited the Sesc Gallery, the Liberty Fair, and art galleries, such as A7MA—which shows the work of up-and-coming graffiti artists. They also celebrated the anniversary of the city with a juggling and light show at the SESC Pompeia, and even got to taste the traditional São Paulo pizza and experience the bustle of the bars of Vila Madalena.
