Leona Forman, BrazilFoundation’s founder and president, will receive the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Rio de Janeiro on December 10, 2009 at Rio de Janeiro’s City Council. The title was awarded to Leona by Councilwoman Andrea Gouvêa Vieira and approved by the 51 Municipal Councilmen in recognition for BrazilFoundation’s work in Brazil and in Rio.
BrazilFoundation is a grant-making and fund-raising public charity, incorporated in New York in 2000 with non-profit status under Section 501(c) (3.) In the past eight years, the foundation has raised over $11 million and supported a total of 184 small and medium-sized non-profits in Brazil.
