Associação Redes de Desenvolvimento da Maré

Preparing students for success in 6th Grade. Preparing young people for admission to institutions of technical and higher education

Aiming to influence policymakers’ decisions, Rede da Maré works to raise awareness of the realities of 140,000 residents of 16 favelas. Rade da Maré looks to use legal action and its ample supply of volunteers as a means to secure greater access to electricity, waste collection services, water & sewage systems, and public transport systems. Rede da Maré has broadened access to education by contributing to the training of educators and offering extracurricular learning opportunities to students of all ages. Beginning in 2020, a greater focus has been given to preventing infrequent schooling; this problem is especially noticeable in lower-income communities where up to 2% of children are not receiving formal education.
