The Event

BrazilFoundation is a non-profit created in New York in 2000 that mobilizes resources for ideas and actions that transform Brazil. In 17 years, the Foundation has raised over US$40 million and supported over 500 social projects in 26 states in Brazil. The gala will help support projects in the areas of Education and Culture, Health, Socioeconomic Development, Human Rights and Civic Engagement, and Social Enterprise.

The VII BrazilFoundation Gala Miami will be held on March 17, 2018 and it promises to be a memorable evening, gathering 350 people from the business, media, academic, diplomatic and artistic communities of Brazil and around the world to celebrate BrazilFoundation’s efforts for a more just and equitable Brazil.

Caroline Celico Honoree Gala Miami

Caroline Celico, Founder and President of Fundação Amor Horizontal

Caroline is the founder of Fundação Amor Horizontal, and has served as its president since 2013. Previous to these endeavors, she received a degree from Instituto Marangoni in Milan and studied gastronomy at Le Cordon Bleu in Madrid. She created the Foundation as a volunteer, with the intent to create a way to facilitate donations to institutions in Brazil.

Fundação Amor Horizontal’s mission today is to promote a culture of giving in Brazil. The Foundation has an online platform that connects donors with reputable institutions. Donations made through the platform become goods such as medicines, school supplies, books, home appliances, mattresses, blankets, diaper kits and more. More than 10,000 children and adolescents have been attended through the 56 institutions supported by Fundação Amor Horizontal.

Evando Neiva Gala Miami Honoree

Evando José Neiva, Co-Founder of Fundação Pitágoras, and Chairman of the Board at Kroton

Evando Neiva is co-founder of Pitágoras, an educational organization founded in 1966 in Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais. Kroton arose from Pitágoras, and is today a reference around the world in education. Present in all Brazilian states, Kroton has roughly 1 million students from kindergarten to higher education.

Evando made it his life’s mission to improve the quality of Brazil’s public schools, focusing on basic education – work which has since benefitted more than 3,000 schools and 2 million students. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais – UFMG, and is an educator and professor of Physics. He is also currently the Chairman of the Board at Kroton. He is currently leading educational programs that promote inclusion, access to justice and dignity for the incarcerated population.
