New York Communities and Blogs Support Informal Initiatives

New York-based blog “Not Your Average Blogzilla” and facebook community Brasileiras de NY all pledged to support one “OP” (informal initiative) through the newly launched BrazilFoundation Prêmio de Inovação Comunitária (Community Innovation Award). The Award, launched in November, will grant up to US$1,500 for informal initiatives – social initiatives in the beginning stage of development that will be identified, chosen and mentored by BrazilFoundation grantee partners.

Facebook community Brasileiras de NY, created by Rafaela Rangel to encourage dialogue among Brazilians living in the New York area, was the first group to sponsor an informal initiative. Blog Not Your Average Blogzilla, by Nana Cunha, quickly followed. We are grateful to the Brazilian community in New York for supporting the Community Innovation Award!
