Construção Cidadã
Ação Moradia was founded in 2000 to improve the quality of life for at-risk families by constructing affordable housing through the use of ecological bricks. Through this methodology, families make their own eco-bricks and build their own homes, strengthening both family and community ties. Currently, Ação Moradia has developed community enterprises, and projects to secure food and steer community engagement.
A BrazilFoundation grantee in 2003 and 2006, the organization has had national and international recognition, and has served over 2,800 families. Acão Moradia’s eco-brick technology has also been adopted by two other BrazilFoundation grantees, Associação de Formação e Reeducação Lua Nova and Banco Bem.
