Instituto Ágora promotes the ideals of human rights, democracy, and participative citizenship. The organization implemented an electoral center in the city of São Paulo that made the City Council’s operations more transparent and accessible, increasing public participation and awareness. The center has acted as a channel for communication between citizens and their representatives in the local legislature. With the support from BrazilFoundation, the institute replicated this methodology in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the goal of achieving a pro-active model of participation. The goal was not achieved due to lack of additional resources.
