Arte de Aprender: Gerando Renda e Cidadania
Even with no access to sewing machines, low-income seamstresses in this community were producing blankets, coats and other garments using sheep shearing wool donated by local sheep owners. Although the products were completely absorbed by the local market, the informal structure of the local sewing industry was causing a high turnover rate amongst them and it was limiting production. They felt the need to expand their production capabilities.
Through the support of BrazilFoundation, they acquired the necessary equipment, and were trained in business management and wool handling techniques. Today, they sell their products at various markets and have significantly increased their income.
