Pedagogia da Alternância e Desenvolvimento Sustentável no Campo
Going to school and doing farm work are incompatible activities for the majority of young people living in Maranhão’s countryside. With the help of the BrazilFoundation, the Association educated local youth in agroecology and collaborated to improve their quality of life.
The methodology of “Alternating Education,” consists of 15 day periods at the school center and 15 days on the family farm. The program is implemented directly in the students’ hometown, where they can practice the techniques learned in school with the support of teachers and technical professionals. The project has had a great impact within the group.
