The Associação dos Assentados da Fazenda Primeiro do Sul is located in a region where the majority of small, rural families grow coffee. The project supported by BrazilFoundation improved coffee production in the Primeiro do Sul settlement by teaching growers about modern planting, harvesting, and storage techniques. As a result, they were able to add more value to their product, and thus became competitive in the market, which lead to an increase in the farmers’ income.
