Tambores do Vindança
The Dance Company works with children and at-risk youth in the Vila Velha neighborhood, on the outskirts of Fortaleza. The Company uses various forms of artistic expression to improve of the quality of life of its participants. A BrazilFoundation grantee in 2003 and 2005, Vidança has expanded its activities and increased the number of projects supported by other partner organizations.
The Company makes presentions in Ceara and other Brazilian states. In 2007, they performed at the BrazilFoundation Annual Gala in New York. Vidança was designated a “Ponto de Cultura” (Point of Culture)* in 2009.
*Title of recognition awarded by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture to institutions that have made socio-cultural impacts in their communities.
