Programa de Atendimento Integral à Família
The Center promotes educational activities among families in Acari, one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The services target, in particular, families headed by women who, although do not formally work, are solely responsible for supporting their families. They usually do so through the sale of small services and homemade products.
These women, who are mothers and grandmothers, spend a lot of their time at home caring for the children, and sometimes, become perpetrators of family violence. With BrazilFoundation ‘s support, the project offered psychosocial and psychological services to these families as well as courses to professionally qualify women and young people.
