Feminização da Pobreza, da Violência e da AIDS
Coisa de Mulher was created in 1994 by Afro-American and feminist women and acts to guarantee and to protect women’s rights. The Center conducts studies about gender equality, maintains informational programs about sexual and reproductive health to imprisoned or formerly imprisoned women.
With BrazilFoundation’s support, the project Women in Prison has promoted the reintegration of currently and formerly imprisoned women into their communities through professional development courses and activities that raise awareness of their civil rights. The project’s goal was also to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases among prisoners, their families and women who work in prisons.
