The Center promotes the development of rural techniques adequate to the semi-arid climate and capacitates rural families in Pesqueira to use this technology. Through the project Planting Hope, the Center trained residents of fishing communities in the semi-arid regions of Pernambuco to effectively use and conserve water, to raise goats, chickens, and drought-resistant agricultural products.

BrazilFoundation ‘s grant was applied to family farming activities that generate income and improve nutrition, and to programs that teach agricultural techniques to local farmers. The project has contributed to the creation of a seed bank and cisterns to save rainwater, and to the raise of chicks for local subsistence.
