Queimados Encena
Despite its rich history and cultural diversity, the Baixada Fluminense, is characterized by high incidence of poverty and crime, and poor access to socio-cultural resources. The Queimados Acts Theater Company was established in 2003 by a group of cultural activists and promoted as a center of artistic creation, instruction, and support for the Baixada region.
Since then, this self-supported group has provided a variety of artistic performances for the community in partnership with regional art groups. The support of BrazilFoundation will allow the Company to offer free theater and musical workshops, and shows put on by local artists, guaranteeing access to cultural production and events for Baixada residents and students in public schools.
