Recriarte
CARE was created in 2000 with the support of UNICEF, to promote decent working conditions and to improve income among waste pickers that work at Terra Dura dump in Santa Maria, on the outskirts of Aracaju. Recriarte project provided schooling and counseling to waste pickers’ children, who often work at the dump and are out of school.
Educational activities have contributed to improve school attendance, interpersonal relations and self-esteem of these children. The courses and workshops contributed to the formation of a Group of Crafts, whose production is sold in the city.
