Fortalecendo a Capacidade Indígena para a Conservação Ambiental

The ACT Brasil was created in order to strengthen the culture and traditions of indigenous communities, to preserve their environment, and to encourage sustainable development in the Amazon. Indigenous communities have been traditionally vulnerable due to difficulties in implementing public policy and conflicts with farmers in designated indigenous lands.

The project supported by BrazilFoundation trained representatives of indigenous groups, located in the municipality of Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, on territorial protection techniques. The leaders learned to promote not only territorial protection, but also the environmental conservation of their lands.
