Acalanto – Incubadora de Desenvolvimento Sócio-Ambiental

The Grupo Ação Ecológica Novos Curupiras has been working since 1990 to promote the sustainable development of Amazonian populations, offering training workshops in environmental education, sustainable agriculture, and ecotourism. The organization acts strongly with extractive populations, especially in the archipelago of Marajo, in the State of Pará.

It has twice been elected to represent environmental groups in the northern region with a seat on the National Environment Council (CONAMA) of the Ministry of Environment. The Acalanto project implemented a socio-environmental incubator, to train and empower civil society organizations that aim to generate income and to value art, popular culture and science.
