Inclusão Social Através da Arte e Cultura Popular
The Grupo de Apoio aos Meninos e Meninas de Rua makes use of artistic expression to re-integrate children living on the street into school and family environments. With the support of BrazilFoundation, this project offered workshops on traditional music and dance for boys and girls, ages 4 to 18, living in extreme poverty in the city of Gravatá, Pernambuco.
This support enabled the formalization of these artistic groups, and the purchase of adequate musical instruments. The GAMR gained visibility and was named a “Point of Culture” by the Ministry of Culture. GAMR’s various cultural groups have also gained technical and political sustainability.
