Meio Ambiente, um Diálogo entre os Povos

Irrigation projects in surrounding commercial plantations make water resources scarce in the Dourados Indigenous Reserve, and what little remains is polluted by runoff. The dry climate and depleted soil make subsistence farming nearly impossible, forcing young people from their homes. As a result, suicide incidence, concentrated among young people, is 40x the national average.

GAPK was started by Kaiowá Guarani young people to give them a voice in defending their rights through the production and distribution of images, reports, videos and photojournalism. With the support of BrazilFoundation, GAPK will raise awareness of health problems caused by environmental degradation, food and water insecurity, and the lack of basic services like garbage collection in order to elicit positive intervention from authorities.
