The Grupo Tortura Nunca Mais was developed out of the movement against the excesses of the Brazilian military dictatorship. With the political opening of the Brazilian society, the group established and positioned itself as an important national reference in the defense of human rights. The group stands out for its follow-up and tight control to ensure that the rights of the prison population are not overlooked.
The project Tempo de Aprender trained six high-school educated prisoners to teach 100 prisoners of the Lemos Britto penitentiary in Salvador. The prisoners were trained on human rights, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, and hygiene.
