Mulheres Protagonistas do Desenvolvimento Político, Social e Econômico

In 1993, female workers and members of a maroon settlement from a riverbank region joined together to confront the culture of violence against women and promote women’s rights, while generating concrete strategies for the exercise of these rights. The organization has already mobilized 70 groups of low income women, promoting training courses and professional development.

The project supported by the BrazilFoundation trained 40 women from 13 different municipalities to participate in local government decision-making processes. The project achieved a seat on the Women’s Rights State Council.
