Olho Vivo

The precarious economic and social situation of the village of Paulino Neves in Maranhão motivated the NGO Pivot Maranhão to undertake the “Olho Vivo” project. Its goal was to use the “buriti,” a native vegetable with several functions, in a sustainable way. With the support of BrazilFoundation, the project received technical assistance for its implementation and trained 80 artisans in the production of handicrafts made from the yarn of buriti, which has great value in the market.
