The organizations works for the humanization of Pernambuco’s prisons and for the access of prisoners and their families to justice and citizenship. The institution conducts seminars to inform the public and monitors the implementation of prison policy.

With BrazilFoundation’s support, the project trained human rights advocates, chosen among families of prisoners, to monitor the penitentiary system and advice prisoners and their relatives about their rights and obligations. By creating a public forum, the organization plans to reduce the level of abuse and the practice of torture in Pernambuco’s prisons. The project also established a system for the reporting of torture and other inadequate treatment in the state’s prisons.
