Cidadania Ativa

SINDSERV mobilizes the community to participate in the city’s political decisions. The group intends to implement public policies to improve living conditions and quality of life. The Active Citizenship project, supported by the BrazilFoundation, trained 40 community leaders in partnership with two other institutions, to develop instruments of social control and governance and to monitor the preparation and execution of the municipal budget.

To help in social mobilization, a community radio station was re-established, in the hopes of encouraging people to attend the local public administration meetings. The project participants gradually assumed important positions in society, particularly within the city, contributing to an improved quality of life for its citizens and the renewed management of community organizations.
