Índio quer paz

Founded in 2002 in Bahia with the objective of promoting intercultural dialogue to reduce prejudice and violence, Thydêwá was supported by BrazilFoundation in 2004 with the “Indio quer Paz” project, which developed school-based activities to the increase awareness of and respect for indigenous cultures in the region.

Since then, Thydêwá has received various awards in the area of Human Rights, and attained partnerships with Ministries, local indigenous associations, and international organizations. It became a “Point of Culture*” in 2010, and won the Digital Culture Award, given by the Ministry of Culture, for using new communication technologies in the struggle for the rights and preservation of the indigenous culture.

* Title of recognition awarded by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture to institutions that have made socio-cultural impacts in their communities.
