Social Enterprise

BrazilFoundation added Social Enterprise as a programmatic area in 2014 to support organizations that work to utilize market mechanisms to solve challenges faced by marginalized populations. By financing businesses that generate social impact through economically viable business models, we can help advance social enterprise in Brazil. BrazilFoundation believes that philanthropic capital can play an important role in the value chain, particularly in the early stages of a business. For this reason, the Foundation provides seed investments to social enterprises in the following areas:

— Economically viable business models where social impact is part of the business plan;
— Solutions that improve the quality of life for low-income groups;
— Revenue generation for nonprofit organizations to sustain their missions;
— Businesses that include marginalized groups in the value chain.
