On November 28th BrazilFoundation and CHANEL hosted the V BrazilFoundation Gala São Paulo at Casa Fasano. The event gathered 380 guests to mobilize resources for social initiatives in Brazil. “We are very grateful to have CHANEL’s support for the fourth consecutive year. I recently had the opportunity to meet Miren Bengoa, Executive Director of Fondation CHANEL, a serious organization whose work aligns with ours”, says Patrícia Lobaccaro, President and CEO of BrazilFoundation.
Reynaldo Gianecchini was the event’s master of ceremony, with model Carol Trentini assisting. Fernanda Gentil and Jonathan Azevedo hosted the auction together with auctioneer Fábio Zukerman. Maria Rita closed the night with a special performance, and DJs Marina Diniz and Diego Fragoso treated the guests to an after party.
The Foundation recognized two important names in Brazilian philanthropy: Anna Schvartzman, Honorary President of Centro Israelita de Apoio Multidisciplinar (CIAM), an organization soon to celebrate 60 years of operations, and José Olympio Pereira, President and CEO of Grupo Credit Suisse, celebrated for his investment in culture.
Anna Abuleac Schvartzman wanted to become involved with philanthropy from a young age, seeing it as a useful way to apply herself in a changing world. She began her work at CIAM in 1968, since then the organization has become a reference in São Paulo and Brazil for its work with people intellectual disabilities.
BrazilFoundation celebrated CIAM’s 60 years of work in promoting social inclusion at the gala. “I’ve known about CIAM and Anna for some time! Tonight we enthusiastically celebrate their years working for social inclusion”, says Leona Forman, Founder of BrazilFoundation.
José Olympio Pereira has served as the president of Credit Suisse in Brazil since 2012.He is also on international advisory boards for important organizations tied to the art world such as MoMA, Tate Modern and Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art. José Olympio is also on the board of ONG SOS Mata Atlântica. “José Olympio is one of the greatest cultural philanthropists. It’s important to note that along with his financial investment, he also contributes with his time and expertise – participating on the boards of various cultural institutions”, says Will Landers, President of the Board of BrazilFoundation.
