Songs for the World Raises Over US$7,000 for BrazilFoundation
The benefit concert was the brainchild of 16 year old Julia Lipsztein
On Tuesday, Jan. 28th, more than twenty youth came together to perform a benefit concert for BrazilFoundation at the 54 Below restaurant in New York. The young actors and singers, all with Broadway, theatre and TV/film credits, performed a wide range of material, from Broadway, to hits of the 80s, and Bossa Nova. The evening also featured famed Brazillian composer, singer, and producer Jair Oliveira (Jairzinho) and Nanny Assis’ band. The event raised more than US$7,000 for BrazilFoundation to invest in projects this year.
Songs for the World is the brainchild of 16 year old Julia Lipsztein, who like many youngsters of her generation, is passionate about social causes and caring for the environment. Earlier this year, Julia started a crowdfunding campaign to cover travel expenses for dancers from Ballet Paraisópolis, a BrazilFoundation grantee, to perform at the BrazilFoundation Gala New York.
