BrazilFoundation’s Philanthropic Dinner in New York raises more than US$ 920,000
BrazilFoundation’s New York Dinner 2021 last week was a night of celebration, generosity, and above all, commitment to Brazil! After long months apart, our community of supporters – all vaccinated – gathered around a great cause: Fighting Hunger in Brazil.
In the words of Edu Lyra, one of the honorees that night: “When we remember this dinner, what should come to come to our mind is not the beautiful dress you are wearing tonight, but that tonight we broke a record in donations, and we stood up against poverty.”
We broke a record: more than US$ 920,000 in donations! These resources will enable us to continue helping thousands of families in Brazil facing the crises generated by the pandemic. With funds raised since the beginning of our BrazilFoundation In Action – Together against Covid-19 campaign in March 2020, we have supported 85 organizations and impacted more than 540,000 vulnerable individuals in the country. But, we know we need to do more. In Brazil, half of the population is living with food insecurity, and at least 19 million are going to bed hungry.
The evening’s success resulted from many people’s dedication and generosity. Thank you to our benefactors, patrons, in-kind and institutional partners, auction donors, committees, and volunteers. Our Masters of Ceremonies, Ingrid Silva and Marco Pigossi, were brilliant; singer Claudia Leitte shared her talent and energy; Rafa Kalimann, called for more bids in the silent auction; we are grateful to all of you and everyone who made this outstanding event possible.
We celebrated together on the night of October 28th, but also we shared the memory of the losses that so many Brazilians have recently experienced. Once again, thank you for your enormous solidarity. Together, we will work to ensure that all Brazilians have equal opportunities to live healthy and prosperous lives.
