Thiago Guimarães, BrazilFoundation’s Development Officer, represented the Foundation at the January 12 meetings for the Joint Initiative on Urban Sustainability (JIUS), an initiative by the Brazilian and United States government to promote “green economy” in Rio de Janeiro as the city prepares for the coming mega events (Soccer World Cup and Olympic games).
Private, public and NGO participants as well as federal government representatives from US and Brazil convened in the Philadelphia Navy Yard for a series of working-group discussions around the themes of Storm water and Wastewater Management, Innovative Waste Management and Community Revitalization, and Green Technology and Innovation Clusters.
