The Event

The Gala Minas Gerais will gather 300 people from the business sector across the state in support of the BrazilFoundation Minas Fund, a fund created in response to the 2015 environmental disaster in Mariana, MG. The Fund initially invested in socio-environmental initiatives for the affected population, but now supports social projects in the entire state. Since 2016, the Minas Fund has invested in 20 social projects. The Dinner will help mobilize resources for additional projects in the fund.

Rubens Menin is the Founder, CEO of 35 years and current chairman of MRV's Board of Directors. Graduated in Engineering by the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 1978, Rubens’ dreams and entrepreneurial spirit have redesigned the course of modern urbanization in Brazil and allowed more than one million people to have their own home. Rubens’ life goal is well-defined: to help Brazilian families have a safe haven where they can develop and thrive.

Rubens has invested significant time and financial resources in social projects in Brazil for over 30 years. His passion for social development is so great that in 2014 he founded Instituto MRV, dedicating 1% of MRV's annual net profit to supporting educational projects. With a mission of "Promoting the social transformation of our country through education, the main foundation for the development of a nation, preparing citizens for life and training future achievers" in only three years, the Institute has already mobilized 1,900 volunteers and impacted 219,000 children and adolescents.
