IV Gala Miami

BrazilFoundation held the IV Gala Miami at the beautiful Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). Presented by Park Grove, the event brought together hundreds in support of a better Brazil. A total of US$ 525,000 was raised from the event, including proceeds from auction and ticket sales, which will support at least 15 social projects in Brazil.

Three social projects were recognized at the gala: Fundação Banco do Brasil, represented by its President José Caetano de Andrade Minchillo; Fundação Xuxa Meneghel, received by its president, Xuxa Meneghel, for its 25 years of working with children and adolescents; and Associação Cultural Filhos da Corrente, received by capoeirista Renato Alexander (Mestre Magrão), which promotes social inclusion through capoeira for over 1,200 students in the regions of Parelheiros and Paraisópolis, in the city of São Paulo.

The International Philanthropy Award was presented to Marc Buoniconti of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, an organization that is mobilizing doctors to find a cure for paralysis – and that is currently treating Laís Souza, a Brazilian athlete who became quadriplegic after suffering a skiing accident.
