Our Program
Over 210 families are impacted annually at Casa Amarela Providência.
Over 1.200 classes per year for children, youth and women.
“Casa Amarela is a place where I study, play, eat, and do much more… I learn, take boxing and afro dance class… I feel so much joy here! And, this expression spreads throughout the yellow house and reaches the point of the moon!” – Zayan Henrique Nunes da Silva Joaquim, 8 Years Old
Casa Amarela Providência is a Community Center of Culture, Education and Arts for residents of all ages within the first favela of Brazil, Morro da Providência in Rio de Janeiro. Founded by French artist JR and Brazilian photographer Maurício Hora in 2009, it is the first flagship program of the Can Art Change the World? Foundation.
The fund will directly benefit local children, teens, and women by supporting free access to quality programs in arts, education, health, and entrepreneurship. All contributions will go exclusively to Casa Amarela Providência’s ongoing community initiatives and infrastructure.

Join us!
Since its early work with the Women Are Heroes project in 2009 and the recognition of the 2011 TED Prize, the Can Art Change the World? Foundation has been at the forefront of global, community-driven initiatives. Inspired by the vision and legacy of French artist JR, CACTW channels the power of creativity to bring people together, strengthen local networks, and spark meaningful change. We design and support educational and cultural programs that encourage personal development, collective healing, and social transformation.
From the favelas of Rio to prisons in California, our work builds long-term partnerships and fosters civic participation. Through a participatory model, we amplify local voices in more than 154 countries, advancing projects rooted in justice, culture, and learning. Along the way, we have partnered with institutions such as the United Nations, Emerson Collective, Chanel Foundation, Centre Pompidou, and the Brooklyn Museum.
