The project “Rescuing Citizenship” by the Central Association of Citizenship aims to provide professional qualification for women and LGBTQIA+ individuals during the incarceration process at the Penitentiary Complex of Feira de Santana, the most populous in the state of Bahia. With support from the BrazilFoundation Gender Equity Fund, the initiative seeks to assist 50 female inmates in gaining the skills necessary to re-enter productive life post-incarceration through income generation with low investment. In addition to fostering economic and financial autonomy, the program includes group discussions on ending violence, the rights of the Black population, solidarity economy, and human rights.
