Recriando

Improving the academic performance and community involvement of children through activities that facilitate their overall development

The municipality of Mesquita, in the Baixada Fluminense, is one of the poorest in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It ranks among the lowest in indicators of employment, income and infrastructure of services, such as water and basic sanitation. The presence of drug trafficking, the absence of recreational areas such as community squares, sports courts and free cultural programs place children and young people in a serious state of idleness and vulnerability.

In this context, it is extremely difficult for families to provide an adequate environment for the education and full development of their children and youth.

The Recriando project works with children and young people to provide a safe environment for the development of self-esteem, autonomy, teamwork and strengthening community ties. Additionally, it offers educational reinforcement and psychosocial care.

With support from BrazilFoundation, the Association will offer:

•Psychosocial care;
•Recreational, cultural and artistic activitie;
• Educational reinforcement;
• Nourishmen.
