Participação Juvenil no Orçamento Municipal

Despite the fact that the youth represent 25% of the inhabitants of the Tucano Municipality, the local government traditionaly dedicated little attention to this segment of the population. The Group was founded in 2004 with the goal of training young leaders to work with public policy on youth related issues in the region. With the support of the BrazilFoundation, the youth of Tucano began to actively partake in their Municipality’s legislation and budget.

As a result several amendments to guarantee municipal budgetary allocations for sports, culture, education and income generation for youth were passed. Futhermore, the youth gained representation in 25 city budgets.
